About AJD
AJD was created as a lockdown hobby in 2020, by Textile Designer Amber Jordan.
Returning freshly from university whilst living overseas in England, Amber was inspired to start exploring home with a tourists perspective…
Residing at the time in Eglantine Avenue Belfast - lockdown consisted of adventuring around the city each weekend on a Belfast Bike. This gave Amber the inspiration for her earliest “Belfast Series” collection, which consisted of bold graphics and an industrial feel. She started selling a few prints on Etsy for Irish ex-pats across the world, specifically for their “Work From Home” offices. Once lockdown lifted, she was approached by Chat & Chill Café to supply Belfast artworks but with a custom palette to suit their interior (lots of pretty blues!). Bringing this vision together led to Amber’s best-selling series of 2021 which was then picked up by Visit Belfast Welcome Centre. The first official AJD stockist!
Although from Lisburn, Amber spent her summers growing up along the North Coast (Portstewart in particular). She decided to expand her style into graphic coastal additions and the collection quickly gathered interest from local gift shops such as The ROCK Craft & Coffee, Castlerock.
From 2020 - 2023 Amber was working as a commercial Textile Designer for a local manufacturing facility in Lurgan. Her passion within her role of product design, paired with her love of Northern Irish adventures and digital illustration… ignited a spark within her side-business. Working directly with both her employers and other local producers to develop end-use goods… her product offerings and list of stockists began to grow!
Returning home for the final time, Amber appreciated just how important it is in having sentimental mementos of home and wished this was something she had living internationally. During her travels she drew areas across Northern Ireland from her inspiration images of home. She used the time away to explore her style, to improve her skills within digital illustration and brainstorm creative manufacturing processes. With this, her hyper-realistic style was born and has swiftly become her best-selling range which now allows her to create full-time!
After 3 years of sole trading, Amber decided to take an adventure across the world to travel Asia as well as reside in Sydney Australia. There she worked for an Aussie based fashion brand and dove into the world of apparel design. Her admiration of home however never left, with Amber’s mum running her business whilst she explored the land down under. Within this time Amber realised just how much she missed home comforts, beach days (with a wet suit and woolly hat), forest walks (without deadly spiders) and getting to create every evening to grow her business.

Alongside Amber’s landscape illustrations she has a love for seasonal design, of which stems from designing for US client TJ Maxx during her previous employment. She gained knowledge within product functionality, fabric care and began to apply her expertise of Mixed Media Embellishment to her works. Debuting in 2022 her first seasonal range, which has been a sell-out each year every since!

Inspired by first-hand imagery of her adventures across Northern Ireland, Amber has developed a portfolio of digitally drawn illustrations of which are available as unique artwork prints, and high-quality locally manufactured homewares.
No AI, no photoshop, no digitalised images. Using a plug-in waccom drawing tablet, Amber draws each shape and fills with complimentary colours to set the scene. Within Adobe Illustrator she layers the individual shapes to create depth and bring the piece to life!
Alike to fine artists, Amber uses her photography as a reference to capture the correct land formation and colour references of pieces taken throughout different times of the day.
Her most recent style is the hyper-realistic scenes of which take an average of 1-2 weeks to create depending on detail and extra touches like her signature sea birds.
